Winter Storm

1/28/2011

I haven't seen this much snow since... '96? It's certainly beautiful.  One of my favorite things to do during a storm is to walk my dog.  Unfortunately, my dog hates me for this.  He does NOT enjoy getting wet! But I just love being out there.
And then, there's the aftermath.  This time, I took my lensbaby with me and had some fun!! Below, I'm sharing some scenes from on the sound in Port Washington, and some from where I grew up in Plandome.  Crazy to think that my grandfather brought the pine over in the trunk of his car, and it now reaches above the house!!

My handsome Logan.  I'm not biased at all by the fact that he is my nephew.  He is the sweetest child you'll ever meet.  I love him to pieces. We had SO MUCH FUN with this cake smash!  He was surprisingly gentle with his approach of "the smash".  Especially since eating is Logan's favorite :) I think he really enjoyed this one!  Happy Birthday Logan!! Aunt Jen loves you!! xoxo

It was wonderful to meet Ben.  The last time I saw his family, Ben was in his mom's belly (see maternity tag).  It was wonderful photographing some of those "special moments" that occur between mother and baby.  Tracy has no inhibitions and is any photographers dream to work with.  We got some beautiful shots as an end result.  Thank you Tracy!

It was so amazing to see TJ because last time I saw mom, I was photographing him in her belly!  Don't know if you remember the maternity post with the dad who is a cop.  But we had some fun with his handcuffs during this photo shoot.  TJ is such a precious little boy!

My First Exhibit!

Tonight was my first ever juried art exhibit!  The exhibit was held at Haven Art Gallery in Port Washington NY and features the work of the members of the PCLI.  I humbly announce that my framed horses sold before the exhibit even began AND were featured on a quarter page ad in the newspaper! Let me tell you the story of these horses:
Every year, we join my husband's side of the family in Bethany Beach, Delaware.  It's one of the best weeks of my summer and I look forward to it every year.  Two years ago, we ventured out to Assateague State Park in Maryland.  It has one of the most beautiful beach I have ever seen (it's the subject of many of my photos), and it is adorned with wild ponies all over the island! After an afternoon of hiking the trails, my husband and I decided to take a nap on the beach before heading home to New York.  I was awakened by the sensation of something hovering over me.  When I opened my eyes, I realized it was a horse!! I gently reached out my arm to grab my camera and took this shot as he gazed back to this other horse behind him.  It was so quick! It's so true that some of the best shots are not planned. I'm just so thankful that I had my camera beside me (that's a joke to those who know me- I ALWAYS have my camera right beside me!)

The second photo featured in the exhibit is "the Bridge".  This photograph is particularly special to me because it is the sight of where my husband asked me to marry him!  I've always had a thing for bridges.  The Brooklyn Bridge and Golden Gate are my favorite.  (I swear, I even have a photo of me kissing the Golden Gate.  When I would see it peak out in the hills of San Francisco, I would always gasp (yes, I often AM the butt of all jokes).  Anyways, one of my most favorite things to do is walk across these two bridges.  On one of our first dates, my husband (who has always been a very attentive listener- one of his many good qualities) took me to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and we spent the evening at the San Gennaro feast in Little Italy.  It was while walking across the bridge on the way home, beneath a full moon and the most amazing New York City skyline, that I realized that "this could really be something".  9 months later, he asked me to marry him!!

The exhibit will be up from now through February 5th.  Both prints are available to purchase, either matted, unmatted, or framed.  Contact me if interested!

I'm back!! Happy 2011 everyone! I'm so excited for this new year.  I have many new ideas, new props, A NEW CAMERA (thanks to my amazing husband!) and new clients that I am all very excited about.
And I can't think of a better way to start off this new year than with Anna.  She is such a sweet baby girl.  I had such a great time photographing Anna with her parents.  I included a photo at the end of this post of the view from their home in Freeport.  Thank you to Anna's parents for encouraging me to get out there and shoot some scenes before I went home.  I got some good ones!!
Oh, and by the way.  I know I have a problem with just selecting "A FEW" favorites.  i'm working on this.  For now you're left with more of a "BUNCH".  Enjoy!
