This spring, I offered mini sessions with live chicks. I was asked the question, 'What did you do with the chicks?' many many times. Here's the story: One of my clients who I photographed last spring, booked me for another spring session now that her daughter is a year older. I knew that I had to offer something different this year... so... chicks! But what do I DO with them??? I threw the idea out to my family one day, and my father-in-law did not hesitate to offer to take them when I was done with them! YOU HAVE TO SEE WHAT HE BUILT (a photos inserted here would be great to tell the story BUT... I didn't take one)... He built the most AMAZING coop in his backyard to house these chickies. It has vents, electricity, a "pen" area (Ok, I don't know what these things are called), and compartments to lift and stick your hand in to gather eggs. He did such a great job with it! So know, that these little chicks are enjoying their new home. This day of mini sessions was great! Check out some of my favorites! This is my own little love bug. My baby, Lucas. He is 7 months old now... so hard to believe. Time flies sooo quickly! Can i just tell you... photographing your own is SUCH a challenge! "Lucas, look at mommy"- he looks everywhere else. I swear, it took HUNDREDS of photos for me to even get a couple of him looking at me. He thinks my husband is absolutely hilarious. Nobody can make him laugh like he can. If you ever see a photo of Luke laughing, you should know that my husband is standing behind me, making "elephant noises". I just love my little boy and I'm loving that he can now sit up for photos!!! :) Check out some of my favorites from our own spring session... Oh my. I fell in love with August. His expressions are absolutely adorable! Check out this cutie pie!!! I am in love with the emotions and expressions portrayed through these images. The sense of wonder as Hailey approaches the chicks, the bond between her and her mother... The little one-year-old poses (what she is REALLY doing is smelling the flowers!) The way that she walks around with the beads around her arm---like she is carrying a purse. I just love it! I photographed Hailey last Spring, actually, I've had the pleasure of photographing her many times, beginning with her newborn photos- and I just had to look back at how much she has grown in a year! Time certainly does fly by. I've heard it said a million times since I've had my own baby and I've said it so many times myself. Everyday I remind myself to enjoy this new day. Enjoy each moment. Which is why I love taking pictures- to be able to capture a special moment in time is a gift that is treasured always. And hopefully one that gets passed on to other generations. So hopefully one day, with a smile on her face, Hailey can show these photos and explain to her grandchildren how she used to walk around holding things on her arm, pretending they are a purse and how she used to squat down really low on the ground with her arms flailed behind to "smell the flowers", and they can SEE the love bond that she had with her mother.... Taking a quick break to reflect on the beauty of this spring... We shared this Easter with our adorable nieces & nephews and of course I had many photo opps. Between the Easter egg hunt on the front lawn and cupcakes with grandma, I was able to get some great shots of my favorite little ones!! (And as you'll see, my puppy participates in the events too!- He's one of the family, known as cousin Kona). You will see some photos taken at beautiful Clark Garden (our favorite garden because it's where we got married!!) I love these little guys soo much!! xoxo One of the best parts of my job is reconnecting with babies that I met at only a few days old. Over 6 months ago, I photographed Hailey. Now I get to see her in another stage, one in which she is laughing and sitting up! It's so much fun to see her new chubby legs and to make her smile. And what a great time of the year to have a photoshoot at the duck pond! Of course, we got some Easter shots in her beautiful Easter dress and bonnet, and I just HAD to use my diaper cover with the little tail. Can't resist. Check out some of my favorites! Ahhh! Spring is in the air! The weather here in NY can't seem to make up her mind. Sandwiched between days of snow and the "wintery mix" were beautiful 70 degree days! Any opportunity that I can take photos outside in perfect light and I'm there! Thank God Jamisyn & Savannah's mom and I were on the same page. With a change of plans, we met at one of my favorite go-to spots and got some beautiful spring photos of this gorgeous family! Now if only the temperature would rise up another 40 degrees again... Valentina and Guiseppe's mom contacted me to take photographs of her children in their holiday outfits: past and present. So we got a little bit of this and a little bit of that. And through all of the outfit changes, these children continued to smile like it was their job! Guiseppe and I talked all about his favorite Disney characters. And what a charmer he is! These children were a pleasure to photograph. We had so much fun together! |
